1986 FIFA World Cup
All my life, I have been fascinated by the FIFA World Cups. I enjoy watching them. I remember when I was a child, the first cup that I Watched was the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico. Colombia had been chosen to host the competition by FIFA but, lagerly due to economic reasons, it was not able to do so and officially resigned in 1982. Then, Mexico was selected as the new host by FIFA. In 1986, only 24 teams had been qualified to participate. Those teams were divided into six groups of four. The top two teams and the four best third places finishers from the six groups advanced to the knock out round of 16 teams. The 1986 FIFA World Cup was won by Argentina, led by Diego Armando Maradona who scored the infamous “Hand of God goal”, and also a goal voted as “Goal of century”, in the same quarter – final against England.
